February 6th - Bath house cultural center

I was lucky to catch two art shows this month, both opening on the same night, and one that will segue into a third! El Corazon 22nd Annual Exhibition is being held at the Bath House Cultural Center by White Rock Lake.  This is a beautiful location, I just love the lake, I'm seriously there all the time these days.  The exhibition runs from February 6th through March 5th. My work pictured above left, "Corazon en Paz" is in the main hallway if you want to see it for yourself.  There is some great work in this show! See below for some shots of opening night!

The Bath House is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 pm to 6 pm, and closed on Sunday and Monday, and is located at 512 East Lawther Drive, Dallas, Texas 75218.

Kettle Art Gallery held the other opening, "For the Love of Kettle", a benefit show for the gallery.  All participants received a 9x12 block of wood to create something.  All works would sell for one night only for $50.   Deep Ellum is one of my favorite areas in the city, and the night was filled with anticipation. When we arrived there was already a line around the corner, this was 30 minutes before opening!  Once the doors opened, the gallery was packed quickly and people were already lined up to buy.  Within 30 minutes my pieces were sold.  See the pics from this opening the same night below!

The next show will also be at the Kettle Art Gallery, "For the Love of Artists" a thank you show for all the participating artists.  All works will be on view Febraury 11th to the 20th.

"The idea for this show was inspired by the many artists who donate towards various causes, while slaving away, broke as hell, struggling to earn a living. This exhibit serves as a unique ‘Thank You’ for helping us out and 100% of the proceeds of sales during this exhibit go directly to those artists!" from Kettle Art website.

The following are the pics of the works I've entered, "Soul Siren's Song" and "Song of the Sea."  I was inspired by Deep Ellum's rich history with music, and one of my favorite artists, Erykah Badu!

About the Artist

I would call myself a Jack of all Trades, but mostly because I'm interested in many areas of art if not all!  I graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from the University of North Texas with a focus on Watercolor.   I always had dreams of creative writing, and in 5th grade I wasn't too bad!  Art clearly won out for my attention, but writing will always have a place in my heart!

What better way to write, I say,  than to share a blog, and practice my second love while talking about my first! With that said, I hope you all enjoy my ramblings and please hit me up with any questions.  :D
