The mission of my work is to challenge the viewer to look beyond the surface. I use figurative forms to give the magic of the watercolor a context. I inject the imaginary into the mundane world we inhabit. Growing up I have had an obsession with the fantastic. The world was a cruel place devoid of magic that I so often found in stories and film. I longed to live there in those distant lands. The color, the unusual shapes and often absence of normalcy create the stopping power I desire to arrest the mind for a moment. To shake the viewer out of mundane tasks, and thoughts, and think on their childhood, to remember what imagination is capable of, is my ultimate purpose.
